All About First Looks
We understand that there is so much that goes into planning for your wedding day. You want all of the perfect vendors, you want your guests to be happy, but you also have to remember to put some time aside for yourselves. Your day is going to go by fast. Remember to enjoy each moment.
It is becoming more and more common for couples to take part in “first looks.” A first look is a moment that happens before the ceremony, where the soon-to-be newlyweds see each other for the first time that day, dressed up and ready to start their new lives together. This is a beautiful, and often emotional, moment for the couple as they look into the eyes of their forever.
If you’re not convinced about having a first look, there are several reasons why you might want to take it into consideration. First, it is a moment between just the two of you. Your wedding day is filled with being here and there from early in the morning, all while on a tight time schedule, so to have these few moments to just unwind and be present together is something you should take advantage of. You can be in the moment together without anything else in the way.
Secondly, it is an awesome moment for your photographer to capture. Your photographer will get both of your reactions before, during and after, so you can relive the moment over and over again. Your family and friends will also love seeing the both of you see each other for the first time.
Third, having a first look allows for you to have time to take pictures with your wedding party before the ceremony and reception. Nobody will have to miss any moments celebrating by being pulled away to take photos! Your photographer can go right into this seamlessly from your first look.
We love first looks, and we love that many couples are choosing this to be a part of their day! However, it is not mandatory. There are still a lot of couples who opt out of a first look and want to see each other for the first time walking down the aisle, which is completely beautiful too.
