5 Spooky Halloween Proposal Ideas

5 Spooky Halloween Proposal Ideas

Are you and your partner lovers of all-things creepy and all-things Halloween? Do you think Halloween would be the perfect time to get engaged and are in need of thrilling ideas for a Hallow’s Eve proposal? Look no further! Below are 5 spook-tacular ways to ask for your boo’s hand in marriage.

Haunted House

What’s more spooky than a haunted house? For a classic spooky experience, propose to your partner in a haunted house. Wait until the end of the experience to pop the question to your boo. And with the staff on-board, you could ensure a spook-tacular proposal.

For an added surprise, take part in the haunted house yourself! Coordinate with a friend or family member to take your loved one to the haunted house of your choosing. Work with the haunted house to staff to figure out the best time for your appearance. Not only will your mate be spooked to their core, but they will also have the most spell-binding surprise!

Late-Night Pumpkin Carving

Pumpkin carving under the stars will create a mystical scene for you and your beloved. To set the perfect scene, accompany your pumpkin carving with a moonlit dinner. Nothing sounds more hauntingly romantic than a late night picnic. If you decide to enjoy a meal under the stars, try and use a coffin ring box to surprise your beloved with. For an added surprise, look into carving the words “Will you marry me?” into your pumpkins.

Horror Movie Night

Cuddling, holding hands, scared-beyond-your dreams, is there a more perfect setting to propose in? If your lover is a big fan of horror, your movie choice can range from a psychological thriller to a crazy slasher film. If they can only tolerate horror movies, you might want to go for more of a horror comedy.

For a very intimate movie night, you might want to settle for a night-in. For a night out of the house, you might want to opt for a local drive-in movie. A drive-in could create the perfect eerie night vibe for your spooky proposal.

Halloween Party

Who doesn’t love dressing up? With close friends and family invited, a halloween party would be the perfect opportunity to propose to your special someone. Decorate the house in the most bone-chilling and bewitching decorations to give the party an otherworldly look. Don’t forget to coordinate costumes with your special someone for the perfect couple outfit. Let your guests know about the plan to propose so no one misses the big moment.

Haunted Maze

Stumbling in a haunted maze with your soulmate is one way to have a good time. To make it an even better time, finish up the experience with a proposal. A haunted maze will provide all of the scares as various props and actors will come out to surprise you as you are trying to find your way out. Wrapped up in fear, your significant other will never expect what awaits them at the end of the maze.

Waiting till the end of the path to propose will help to ensure that no creepy creatures make an appearance at the same time of the ring. Getting through the maze will not only provide an intimate experience as you two try to navigate through it, but, with the proposal, will also create a memory that will last forever.

Guide to Wedding Photographers

Guide to Wedding Photographers

The planning process has begun and on top of choosing your venue, finding a florist, and picking out your wedding dress, you also realize that you need to hire a wedding photographer. Here is the ultimate guide to wedding photographers.

Price

Sticking to your budget is very important through your wedding planning process and it is even more important when it comes to choosing a photographer. A wedding photographer can range anywhere from $300 or less to $4,500 or more. On average, couples tend to spend $2,000 for their photographer. The overall cost of your photographer depends on the package you chose and the hours they spend covering your wedding.

This may seem like a lot of money for photos, but these photographers are capturing a very special moment in your life and you will look back on the pictures they took whenever you reminisce about your special day.

Keep in mind how much you are willing to spend, it’s up to you to decide how much you want to pay a photographer. Remember you are not only paying for the pictures but also the photographers’ travel expenses, digital files, editing and professional retouching of photos, and any additional shooting you wanted. And you are also paying for their quality and professionalism as well.

Style

Every wedding photographer has a different style. The style of a photographer should be a deciding factor in whether or not you’d like them to photograph your wedding.

You should research styles that you like before taking a deep dive into photographers. Look at many different portfolios and photos from online and magazines and choose which ones you like best. You may want to go for a vintage-styled photo session, complete with black and white photos and an old-school feel. Or you might find that the editorial-style catches your eye and you would like for you and your soulmate to look as if you were on the cover of Vogue. Some other photography styles are; photojournalism, traditional, and fine art.

Once you have a style in mind, you should look at photographers that create a similar look. There should be more than one photographer on your list and from there you can narrow down who can create the style you envision and is in your budget.

Vision

The vision you have for your wedding should be shared among your vendors and, more importantly, your photographer.

Are you a family-oriented couple that would like many photos of your aunts, uncles, and cousins gathered for your momentous occasion? Would you like to capture the exact moment your best friend from childhood that you have not seen in over 5 years sees you in your wedding dress? Are you not too big on photos of the decor and would like more of you and your spouse? What you envision for your wedding day should be produced by your photographer.

You and your photographer should mesh when it comes to your vision. A vetting process should be done and conversations should be held among your potential picks for photographers to make sure they can develop your ideas in a tasteful way.

Why Are My Wedding Flowers Costing So Much?

Why Are My Wedding Flowers Costing So Much?

It’s the question that might be in the back of your mind as you begin to get quotes for your wedding day. If it is, you’re not the only one having this thought. Prices have been changing, and we are presently seeing it more and more. You might be constantly trying to tweak the budget you have for your wedding to try and fit in everything you want, while not completely breaking the bank.

There will be numerous expenses for the day, no matter how big or small you want your celebration to be. There’s your venue (or rentals, if you’re doing an at-home wedding), your vendors (regardless of how many you plan on hiring), and of course, flowers and decor!

Flowers are often a big part of your wedding day – they are a focal point of photos, the men have them on their tuxedos, the girls carry them down the aisle, and your guests will be surrounded by them as part of the gorgeous decor throughout your ceremony and reception.

While you’re excited to pick out your flowers and color scheme, you can’t help but keep wondering why the price of your personal flowers and decor costs so much.

Well.. we are about to tell you why!

Here are five reasons why your flowers may make you feel like you’re breaking the bank.

wedding preparation

Supply & Demand

Valentine’s Day, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, and proms are just some reasons to keep in mind as you are thinking about supply and demand of certain flowers. Not to mention everyone else that is having a wedding on or around your date! Farms will sell their product for more money around certain times because they know it is in such high demand. The more a product costs to obtain, the more a finished product will cost. The bouquet you are holding or the flowers on your table had to go through a lot of steps to get there: from farm, to truck, to wholesaler, to florist, to venue!

Fuel

Fuel is needed to transport many different vehicles in the process of getting your flowers from farm to table (or hands). Flowers have to be driven from the farm to an airport. The flowers are pickup up and brought to a location where they will be worked on for your big day. Then, transporting all of the flowers to your venue (and often times more than one stop) have to be taken into consideration. All of this traveling has unfortunately become very costly.

Strikes

There was a national strike in Ecuador that blocked all deliveries. Flowers were sitting in hot trucks, being destroyed and unable to be used.

With all of that in mind, make sure to save enough room in your budget for your floral needs AND remember to stay flexible. Everyone is working as hard as they can to make your wedding vision a reality, while also dealing with some extensive external factors that we have no control over. Weather conditions have been crazy, and sometimes flowers are damaged in the process.

Season

Believe it or not, the season you’re in has a lot to do with the cost of your flowers. Flowers work on a monthly schedule. If the flowers you want are not in season the month of your wedding, you could end up spending a lot more money than usual. It’s important to pick flowers based on whether they are in season or not. For example; Snap Dragons, Roses, and Sunflowers are all in season during September. If you wanted Daffodils, which are in season in June, for your September wedding, it’s going to cost you.

Quality

When it comes to your wedding bouquet, you have to keep in mind that you are paying for quality. Your florist is not just getting you your flowers, but designing an overall look for your wedding with the flowers of your choosing. Professional formal florists put a lot of time and effort into your bouquet. A professional florist is not only creating a beautiful bouquet with their artistry, but they’re also choosing the most high-quality flowers to make sure your wedding will have the most vibrant floral touch.

Any of these reasons may be the cause behind the large price tag on your flowers. You might be thinking of cheaper alternatives. Would it be better for you to choose another florist? Find a different supplier? While you keep your budget in mind, it is important to remember that your wedding day is an investment. Invest wisely so you are not overspending on any aspect.

Autumn Wedding Themes

Autumn Wedding Themes

Leaves are stating to fall and the smell of pumpkin spice lattes are hitting the air, all things summer and sun are out and all things fall are now in! Here are four autumn wedding themes for the season!

Halloween

If you want a spook-tacular wedding, a theme centered around Hallow’s Eve is perfect for you!

A Halloween wedding uses all of the typical halloween decorations; skulls, skeletons, spiders, spider webs, and lots of black. Some other decorations you should be sure to include are; candles, purple or dim lighting, and a halloween cake topper. You can also incorporate Halloween as you walk down the aisle with a “Till’ Death Do Us Part” aisle runner. Using halloween-themed vows, a black dress or veil, or eerie ceremony music will create the perfect haunting wedding day.

Pumpkins

Nothing says fall like pumpkins. A pumpkin-themed wedding includes an abundance of pumpkins. You can utilize the different colors and sizes of pumpkins for different decorations; centerpieces, aisle decor, place settings. You can incorporate white pumpkins for a classic wedding touch.

To complete your pumpkin-filled wedding, you might want to consider having your reception, ceremony, or both at a pumpkin patch.

Harvest

A rustic, harvest marriage ceremony will bring the autumn feel. A harvest theme makes use of all the brown and gold shades you can think of. The harvest theme also makes use of a lot of wood with wood centerpieces and tweed accessories. And don’t forget the greenery! Using copper tones with a lot of floral pieces and floral decorations will have you ready to “fall” in love.

This theme would be complete at a woods or barn venue.

Back-to-School

A back-to-school wedding will be bring out all of the nostalgia from your guests.

To ace a back-to-school themed wedding, you need to use all the the things that make school, well…School! Use as many chalkboards, books, and pencils as you can. Unique decorations include grade/class place cards, brown paper bag favors, and a pop quiz wedding game.

To get an A-plus on this theme, forget the limo and have those in the wedding party arrive in a school bus. That will bring back all the memories!

Being Flexible On Your Wedding Day

Being Flexible On Your Wedding Day

Things do not always go according to plan. Your wedding day could be on of those times where things aren’t exactly “perfect”. When there’s an opportunity for mishaps to occur, it is important to keep an open mind, expect the unexpected, and be flexible.

Venue

Weather changes on the dime, especially in the summer months. So when picking a venue, there should be a beautiful space indoors as well as outdoors to get married in. On a blazing hot day with 100-plus degree weather, you don’t want your older guests sitting outside during your ceremony for a half hour to an hour. Pick a venue that has beauty inside and outside, so that in any case, your ceremony will be lovely.

If you are dead-set on an outdoor venue, make sure to have a Plan B. Storms, floods and heavy rain could occur.

Vendors

When it comes to flowers, food, or whatever your vendor is supplying, availability may be limited for certain products. The exact type of daisy may be unable to reach you by your wedding date due to delivery delays. Even though you might have pictured your perfect day in your mind, you might need to make some adjustments.

It’s a good idea to have substitutions and alternatives to be ready for any changes.

Guests

Things happen. Whether it be health-related, family-related, or another disruption, your guests may have an interference in their schedule and may be unable to attend your wedding. You should reach out to your guests to double-check if their attendance is guaranteed. Be flexible with your seating chart as it might have to be adjusted a few times.
